Your rights
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to know what your care will cost before you get it. That's federal law, and at a transparent-pricing practice it's also just how we work.
What it is
Under the federal No Surprises Act, health care providers must give patients who aren't using insurance a written Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges. Because Coast to Coast is a cash-pay practice, every patient receives one.
Your Good Faith Estimate lists the services you're scheduled for and what each is expected to cost. Since our prices are flat and published, your estimate will match the rates on our pricing page: no ranges, no asterisks.
When you get it
- When you schedule a visit at least 3 business days out, your estimate arrives within 1 business day of scheduling.
- When you schedule at least 10 business days out, it arrives within 3 business days.
- You can also request an estimate at any time, before scheduling anything. It arrives within 3 business days of your request.
- For ongoing care, your estimate covers the expected course of treatment and is refreshed if the plan or pricing changes.
If the bill is higher than the estimate
If you're ever billed at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, federal law gives you the right to dispute the charge through the patient-provider dispute resolution process run by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Details and the dispute process are at cms.gov/nosurprises or by phone at 1-800-985-3059.
At our flat published rates, a surprise of that kind shouldn't happen here. The right exists anyway, and you should know about it.
Two things worth knowing
- A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract. It doesn't obligate you to receive the services listed.
- Keep a copy of your estimate. You'll need it if you ever use the dispute process.
